Grocery shopping shouldn’t be a taxing job. Here’s how you can make it easier.
- Take a list with you. Did you make a list in the first place? A list of must-buys saves grocery shopping time. How do you come up with a list? The plainest way is to think about what you need before you go shopping. Check cupboard and cabinets to find out if you’re running out of certain supplies. You may also find it useful for grocery shopping if you do it after planning a weekly menu. This way you’ll see what you need and buy just what you would need.
- Eat before driving to the grocery store. Do you notice how bigger you spend when you go shopping hungry? You can actually reduce shopping cost by eating your meals before going out. It saves money you might spend going to restaurants when your stomach begins to rumble.
- Check out discount or membership cards. Grocery shops are attracting customers by making them eligible to discounts through registration. If your grocery shop offers one, grab it. You may pay for membership cards but discounts to avail offer much savings in the future.
- Buying in bulk saves gas and energy. Non-perishables can be bought in bulk so you won’t have to go shopping for them each time. If you have discount coupons or cards, buying in larger quantities means bigger discount. Altogether, buying in volume means bigger savings. Veggies and meat may be bought in volume, too, but stock them in the freezer immediately.
- Stick to your budget and don’t pick items on impulse!
